New Year, New Opportunities, Or same old issues, different year...

The arrival of a new year, leads me to wonder about the whole resolution thing. The onset of another year, to start afresh encourages people to resolve to be better, or improved citizens.

But how quickly do we fall back into old habits? A week? A few days? At some point our old selves appears and the resolution fades. I m sure the Pakistani cricketers resolved to beat the Aussies in Sydney and were on track to win inside four days when the 'old' Pakistan appeared and Australia performed a sporting miracle, or was it a case of Pakistan gift wrapping it?? Talk of match fixing arise, but I dont think this is a tem that can afford to throw a game for a few bucks, seeing they don't play tests very much and also the bizarre selection policies Pakistan have.

So what does 2010 hold in store for NZ sports Teams?

All Blacks to retain Bledisloe, SAF to retain Tri-Nations. Dont think our forwards have the grunt to compete with the SAFAs at lineout time.

Black Caps to wipe the floor with Bangladesh in a horribly one sided affair in both tests, one dayers and T20s. Beaten 2-0 vs the Aussies and hopefully take a couple of one dayers off them.

Super 14, Crusaders, Chiefs and Hurricanes to be there at the business end of the Comp. Blues and Highlanders to finish 6th and 8th respectively.

NPC, Otago to finish 7th, Southland 5th. Will lose shield to Auckland.

All Whites to draw one game and take a point from pool play at the World Cup.

NZ Warriors to finish 7th and get to Preliminary final, but will be beaten by the Bulldogs, who will play the Eels in the final. The Eels will win the comp

None of these are worth putting money on, but will be interesting to see how accurate my predictions could be!

  1. That is optimistic for the Highlanders and Otago. The Stags may find defending the Shield stuffs them next season, but it will be interesting. Everyone always thinks the Warriors will do better, but they usually deceive.
